Is Anyone Still Reading?

So.  Remember a few weeks ago when I said my plan was to update Cornbread every Sunday at least, and every Sunday and Wednesday at most?

How'd that work out?

I'm quickly learning that a cruel part of getting older is having to make concessions in areas where you were either too stupid or too egomaniacal to concede before.  Basically, the longer you live, the more times you have to throw your hands up and say, "Whatever".

One area where this comes into play is with the fads, trends, and popular culture of the times in which you live.  No one wants to be that fuddy-duddy who thinks their iTunes account is tied to their phone bill, or records their "stories" on their VCR, or uses the term "The Facebooks", or still watches Standard-Definition TV, or utters phrases like "Gettin' jiggy wit' it".  However, like it or not, we are all marked with our relative expiration dates.  No, I'm not talking about our true dates of expiration, but the date when we simply become culturally obsolete.

I believe this is colloquially known as being "old"...

My Apologies

To anyone who visited the site on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 (especially first time vistors) I apologize for its "orangeness".  I was tinkering with the settings the night before and didn't realize that I had changed anything.

Unfortunately, while I was able to get the main color layout back, I completely forgot how the Comments box looked.  If anyone can provide me with information on that or any other ideas you have about the site's color scheme, please let me know.  I think I hate the way the site looks but can't really find something I like.  Maybe a less-critical eye would help.

Thanks Guys,

Are G. Busy

On New Years eve, after the ball dropped and Jenny McCarthy exchanged DNA with some random NYC cop, a thought crossed my mind:

"It's 2012.  We're 3 years away from Back to the Future II... and we're not even close!"

A few months ago I was watching an episode of Clarissa Explains It All  (don't judge me, that show was awesome) entitled "Total TV".  In the episode, Clarissa attempts to watch 24 straight hours of television as part of a school assignment.

That got me thinking...

Enjoy the Journey

"A hobby is hard work you wouldn't do for a living." - Author Unknown

Nominally, Waiting for My Cornbread is the manifestation of the random thoughts that bounce around in the recesses of my brain.  While I generally write with the purpose of entertaining, every now and then nuggets of insight and deeper thought will surface from one of those recesses.

This is one of those nuggets.

Confessions of a Work-Whore

I've been at my current job for nearly 5 years.  Considering the scope of my employment history prior to, this is somewhat of an unexpected, if not remarkable accomplishment.  As you will soon learn, my ability to stick with one employer in past years would have been best described as "Kardashian".  My work-whoring in my younger days may have led to a lot of paycheck promiscuity, but it also left me with a wealth of varied skills and lasting memories.  I'll spare you the juicy details of gigs past, but I will give you a casual glimpse at every job I've ever held, starting with the story of how I landed my very first one...

Welcome (Back)

Welcome back - for the first time.  Some of you are new, but I presume most of you are former readers of my other blog; Your Friendly Neighborhood Skeptic.  All of you, however, are probably wondering what's in store for this new project.  I don't have a definitive response to that yet.  What I can give you is a bit of back-story on this blog's conception, what I would like for it to be, and - most importantly - why it's called Waiting for My Cornbread....  I'll start with the story...
